On Thursday evening we met Nana and Papaw for dinner and they took Matt home with them for the weekend. To describe how sad Matt was about leaving us, here are his own words "Bye bye mommy!! See you later!! GET BACK !!(I wouldn't step away from his car seat fast enough). Was he sad? No. Were we sad? YES. I did not turn into a blubbering fool but I came close.
So with that, on the way to pick him up we were preparing for a battle. We were sure he would resist coming home to the land of rules and regulations. Richard and I decided we needed a plan: how could we make mom and dad look exciting and attractive? So we decided to use bribes: a movie for the trip home, going to Mc Donalds, playing with his friends... As we were talking we both started laughing at the absurdity of the situation - we were going to bribe our child to come home.
Well, needless to say, the exchange went well and he wasn't too sad about coming home. However, I do think he was thrown for a loop because we did not tell him no the rest of the day.
