Home!

We made it back from Haiti and had an AMAZING experience! I cannot wait to share our stories and post pics. At the moment, I am recovering from a nice little stomach bug ( hit me on the flight from Miami to Houston !).

If we are friends on FB, you can check out the photos there.

A few thoughts

I just finished watching Anderson Cooper 360 tonight and am amazed at what I have seen.

Warehouses full of food sitting untouched with starving people all around. Huge machinery waiting to go but standing still because the government will not grant a contract. A four year old living in a homeless tent; his mama is dead and they are searching for his father.

Still no plan in sight.

As I sit here in my dry air-conditioned house, on my comfortable couch, drinking clean water, typing on my laptop, I am overwhelmed when I think about how blessed I am.

When I was camping, I was living better then the people I will see on Saturday.

Even my dog has it better. She is fed twice a day, has water, is loved on, and gets medical attention. As I write, she is sleeping on a comfy couch in the air conditioning.

Does that blow your mind? Our pets have a better life then the majority of people living in Haiti.

Haiti Update

So, did you like all ONE of my Haiti Thursday posts? Oops. I had big plans for blogging this summer but you know how it goes.

Any who, I wanted to update you on our Haiti trip and give some details. Since I am short on time ( I am in between decorating two cakes), I will do a list.
  • Praise the Lord, both of our trips are paid off!! We raised $2400 through selling cake pops, personal donations, and fundraising at church. Let me make one quick point, never put limits on God!! I have no idea why we do this but he will always exceed your expectations!
  • We fly to Miami this Friday at 5:30, the 16th, stay the night and fly to Haiti the 17th.
  • We return home at 11:59 pm Saturday the 24th.
  • Our plans are to conduct two VBS of 100 kids each in mountain villages, construction projects, deliver bags of rice to remote villages, work at the orphanage, home visits, and share the Gospel any chance we have.
  • We can only take our personal belongings in our carry one because our 2 checked bags will carry food and supplies for the orphanage.
  • There are 50 people total on the mission team.
  • We will attend two church services and have the opportunity to give love offerings.
  • Have I mentioned how excited I am about holding the babies and playing with the kids?
  • We will be staying at the Bethel House and there is an orphanage that was relocated here after the quake. We will be with babies and children up to 5 years old. I will try hard not to sneak any home :)

That's about it for now. Please, please, please pray for us. Not only for the mission team but the families that are saying behind. Please pray for Matt and our parents. There are so many specific request I can make but I think you get the idea.

3 1/2 Miles

This is going to be a crazy week. We have VBS at church, I have TWO birthday cakes to bake for Sunday, Haiti loose ends to tie up, camping laundry to finish, work a couple of hours each day after VBS, and a ton of other stuff to do.

I took this on our Colorado trip. The first time I ever saw one of these signs it kind of freaked me out. Now I just find them amusing.

Do you ever feel like you need one of these in real life? Life starts going and Going and GOING! Eventually, you feel like you are going to loose it and wish you could just crash someplace. I know I have those moments.

Hopefully, this will not be one of those weeks :)

I always wonder, if the truckers are loosing control 3 1/2 miles away from the ramp, do they actually make it to the ramp? Or do they end up crashing before? 3 1/2 miles down a mountain is a LONG way. Just wondering...

Remember me?

Wow! Has it really been a month since my last post?? We have been busy busy bees the last couple of weeks. We just got back today from our vacation to Colorado.

If I could choose one word to describe it:

Glorious

We had a great time and I am in the process of downloading 626 photos! Thank goodness for digital cameras. I guess you know what my future posts will be about...I can't wait to tell you about the trip.
