3 Musketeers

I kept the 3 musketeers on Saturday. Here are some cute pics I took at the Farmer's Market.

I love the first picture; I think it captures their personalities perfectly. Leah looks like a diva, Bailee is showing off, and Matt is running away with a mischievous grin.

We are definitely going to miss our Rettig girls when we move.

turn it off

So this is national turn the t.v. off week and we decided we would participate. We started yesterday after church. That was hard because Matt was HUNGRY, CRANKY, and NEEDY and all he really wanted was a "cartoon". The t.v. stayed off the entire day, even after we put him to bed. How about that!!

I was a little worried about this morning because our routine is Matt wakes up and he watches cartoons. I managed to hold him off until 8:30. I finally had to turn on Dragon Tales because I needed to take a shower. However, after DT we turned it off and he played.

As of right now, he has only watched 30 minutes the past 24 hours. I consider myself a t.v. conservative, but honestly, I did not realize how much he watched. Some mornings it might stay on for an hour or more with him watching and playing and then I wold turn it back on in the afternoon for another hour or so. Then we usually stare at it after he goes to bed before we fall asleep.

My goal tomorrow morning is none; we'll see...Let me know if your family is participating in this and how it is going. We can cheer each other on!!

House hunters

Just wanted to let you all know that we went house hunting on Wednesday. We looked at a little bit of everything: the good, the bad, and the really ugly.

We started off with new construction but it wasn't for us. The price was OK but they seemed rather cheap and there was NO yard to speak of. Then we looked at a "lived in" home. All I can say is scary. It had a funky odor that reminded me of ...what is it...it will come to me in just a second...oh yeah... urine!! It was a three bedroom with a dining and study but every room was a bedroom. They had so many kids that there were mattresses suspended from the ceiling with chains to function as a loft. Weird.

We looked at some more and finally found the one for us. It is in a great neighborhood. There are pine trees everywhere, a bayou in the back, and a park for the neighborhood. We went in the afternoon and returned after 5; there were ladies out walking, men doing yard work, and kids everywhere. We loved the neighborhood. The house is great too. It's a true 3/2/2 with a breakfast nook and dining room. My favorite things are the kitchen island and our very own bathroom. The yard is also nice and there are no back neighbors.

I have been very cautious and trying not to get too excited. However, today I showed Karla the house on line and my enthusiasm and excitement came bubbling out. Please pray that this all works out.

This whole journey has been pretty amazing. God has immensely blessed us and we can truly see his hand in the situation. We prayed from the beginning that if this was His will, it would be clear. Let me tell you, after selling our house in one day to the first person, He might as well have been screaming "it's OK, go, I am taking care of you!"

Don't you just love Him.

Honesty

I am so happy that my little adventure on Tuesday brought some sunshine to your life. Here is another funny incident from Tuesday as well.

Scene: Ms. LuLu's after school story time with Matt and one little girl. Ms. LuLu is reading a book about firefighting which includes a picture of a dalmatian.

Dialogue:
Matt - Ms. LuLu...Ms. LuLu...he-ay...Ms. LULU

LL - Yes Matthew

Matt - You see Sparky (the dalmatian). He has moles.

LL - confused look and makes eye contact with me

Me - the dog has moles

LL - Oh yes Matthew. He has spots.

Matt - Yeah. Yeah. He has moles like my mommy.

Me - I am still thinking about how to react to that one...

*Just a reminder. This was after my trip to the dentist when I was looking and talking smart.

Ouchie

Guess what I did today; you will be very jealous. I spent a lovely afternoon at the dentist. I had to have two fillings on opposite sides/corners of my mouth.

All I have to say about the experience is that they did not give me enough deadening juice to begin with.

My first cavity went fine but the second one...not fine. I think my eyes almost popped out of my head. Then, he gave me so much stuff that I could not feel my left nostril and the bottom of my left eye. It took five hours for the affects to wear off.

I felt pretty smart when I picked Matt up from school.

Oh how I have missed you!

What's up..

I'm ba-ack.

Sorry my posting has been so sporadic; I know you all are pining away waiting for my blogs :)

Updates (I think I should call these Praises instead):

My mom is out of the hospital and doing much better. Her treatment is a little tricky and she has more tests to be done, so please pray for her.

We listed our house on Tuesday and got a contract for the full asking price on the same day!! Our heads spun for awhile after our realtor called. I almost burst into tears and I am not sure if it was happy or sad.

I bought my first sewing machine this week. I am making a t-shirt/memory quilt for Richard. An extremely talented band mom is guiding me in this project. Let's just say I bit off more than I realized but it will be great. I am very excited about this project and have been sewing like a mad woman. Funny moment: she asked me what kind of sewing experience I had and I said home ec in the 7 grade. I made a hideous pair of purple shorts that I couldn't even wear; they were awful!! I think she got the picture real quick...

The inspector comes tomorrow. Please pray that goes well.

The Office returned to television tonight!!!! The Lewis household was very excited. (I had to come back and add this)

In case you are wondering:

We do not have a house in our new town. We are looking online for the moment and are planning a "shopping" trip at the end of the month.

We close on our current home May 28. Hopefully, the new owners will give us a few extra days to stay in.

I will post pictures of my nephew very soon.

Return of the hospital

Well, we are returning to another hospital tomorrow. This time for my mom. She was admitted last night for an emergency blood transfusion because her hemoglobin levels were too low.

We think everything is going to be OK and she should get out on Monday. Even though my mom has been sick basically all my life, this has been really difficult for me. After her big surgery four years ago she has been in good health and I have forgotten that panic/worry feeling. Before, I think I was acclimated to her going in and out of the hospital and it just became part of our life. Last night was out of left field and I did not handle it too well. I had a brief freak out moment. (Sorry mom) I am all better today.

On another note, we met with an agent today and are listing our house on Monday. I can't decide if that is a happy or sad thing.

Man, I am just full of happy stories. Sorry. For a truly happy thought, you should see Matthew dance to a Veggie Tales song about Larry Bob. He looked like a toddler version of Elaine off of Seinfeld. No coordination, rhythm, and limbs flailing. It was exactly what the doctor ordered.
